Acknowledgments and DisclosureThe SEDLAC team is grateful to statistical institutes from all represented countries in the database as well as specialized institutions or agencies in countries participating in the Program for providing access to household surveys through the MECOVI program. Unless otherwise noted, the estimated indicators are NOT official estimates of the countries or the World Bank. The SEDLAC database includes poverty indicators using national moderate and extreme poverty lines, which are generally comparable to those of the most recent World Bank Poverty Assessments, and also reports national poverty rates as published by official sources in the countries. These are most relevant for policy discussions at the country level. The database also includes unofficial estimates (see the Guide for a description of the methodology) of poverty indicators based on Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) poverty lines of $1 and $2 a day for the purpose of cross-country comparability, to arrive at LAC regional poverty rates, and obtain up-to-date monitoring of the MDGs. The SEDLAC team works in close collaboration with the Word Bank's World Development Indicator (WDI) team to arrive at a common data frame and to ensure for the most part close agreement with the World Bank's official PPP poverty rates from WDI.
